Sparks Lake is one of the most popular views in all of Central Oregon. Living in Bend, I visit this spot numerous times throughout the year as it's only a short drive from home. It almost seems unfair that you can drive right up to the lake's edge, hop out of your car, and be greeted with this view.
On this particular morning, a few friends and I were heading out to explore some waterfalls in the area and wanted to stop somewhere for sunrise. We decided on Sparks Lake and were greeted with a beautiful layer of fog rising off the lake and a calm waters that looked like a mirror. We ended up staying for a couple hours watching as the colors and fog shifted over the mountains and the warm morning light poured in. Here, the sun shines on South Sister as you can see the last bit of fog hovering in the distance.
No matter how many times I visit Sparks Lake, I never tire of the views and it constantly reminds me to never take for granted the beauty of places right in your backyard.
